On June 20-21, 2025, the“High-Quality Development Symposium on Qinghai Salt Lake Resources in the Medical Field,”jointly hosted by the Qinghai Salt Lake Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Medical Association Journal, and Qinghai Salt Industry Co., Ltd., was successfully held in Xining City, Qinghai Province. Qinghai Altimerit Biotech Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of HOMED Medical Group, was invited to participate in this symposium.
Empowering the entire chain from fundamental research to industrial implementation
At the opening ceremony of the symposium, Feng Haitao, Deputy Director of the Qinghai Institute of Salt Lakes, Chinese Academy of Sciences, introduced the institute's research on Qinghai salt lakes and their resources. Wei Junmin, President of the Chinese Medical Association Journal, stated that the journal would fully leverage its academic platform to facilitate the transformation of research achievements, enabling salt lake resources to better serve public health. Liu Chaokun, Chairman of Qinghai Salt Industry Co., Ltd., highlighted that Qinghai salt lakes possess abundant natural active components such as lithium, magnesium, and boron, offering inherent R&D advantages in biomedicine, functional foods, cosmetics, and other fields. He emphasized that this symposium represents a significant practical step in implementing the“Healthy China”strategy and advancing the transformation and development of resource-based provinces in western China.
Wang Qingpei, Member of the Standing Committee of the Haidong Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor of Qinghai Province, along with other distinguished guests, witnessed the establishment of the Qinghai Lake Salt Medical Application Collaborative Group. Comprising medical experts and leading enterprises, the group aims to promote the efficient utilization of Qinghai Lake salt resources and accelerate the commercialization of scientific research achievements related to Qinghai Lake salt.
The symposium centered on two core themes:“Current Status and Prospects of Medical Development of Salt Lake Resources”and“Deep Integration of Technological Innovation and Industrial Innovation.”It featured keynote presentations, thematic workshops, and field research sessions.

As the first and only Class III medical device manufacturer in Qinghai Province, Ms. Yu Zhaoxia, General Manager of Altimerit, shared her practical project experience, outlining the entire process from research project applications to final product approval and market launch. She also delivered the encouraging news that the outcomes of the first Qinghai Lake Salt Medical Development Demonstration Project are poised for successful commercialization. The nation's first adjustable nasal sprayers utilizing natural salt lake water as raw material are set to hit the market.



Forging a New Chapter for a "Healthy Qinghai" through Innovation-Driven Development
With the deepening implementation of the“Healthy China 2030” initiative, the strategic value of medical development utilizing salt lake resources will become increasingly prominent. The organizers announced the establishment of a regular communication mechanism, including periodic industry matchmaking events and technology release conferences, to foster a development model characterized by “in-depth research, efficient transformation, and scaled industrialization.”
The successful convening of this symposium marks a pivotal step in extending Qinghai's salt lake resources beyond traditional mineral extraction into the realm of medical health applications. Through collaborative efforts among government, industry, academia, research institutions, and end-users, these salt lake resources are transforming from “treasures of the plateau” into “scientific remedies” safeguarding public health, injecting robust momentum into the high-quality development of China's broader health industry.
